Near the lake there is also a ZOO where most of the animals are not kept in cages but walk freely in the fenced parts of the park, which makes this place very interesting, first of all for the youngest, but also for all animal lovers. It was founded in 1950 and today it covers an area of 10 ha.
Over 270 species of trees and shrubs grow in the park, many of which are rare and exotic species, such as the Lebanese cedar and the giant, sequoia or larch. Centuries-old oaks stand out from domestic species. Conifers grow on the north side of the garden and deciduous trees on the south side. A few smaller forest formations were also left behind. The space is enriched and enlivened by numerous flowers in planters, ponds, waterfalls and fountains. Visitors can see over 65 species of animals: numerous birds, several species of monkeys, large mammals, but also exotic animals such as snakes and tarantulas. Palić Zoo is open 365 days a year.
